CHARACTER INFO

Character: Misaki Yamazaki
Canon: Original Character
Age: DATA ERROR (Physically around 25, mentally...well over 100, it's complicated.)

Background Information: The campaign setting was based on a mashup of the SMT/Digital Devil Saga/Persona and Fate franchises. For the sake of this app, the serial numbers are largely filed off, and Night will not recognize canon characters including Fate Servants, except for being vaguely from a world with similar mythology, and that her own world uses similar terminology.

The world that was and the world that is are both near-future Earth with some very key differences, namely the existence of magic and summonable supernatural beings all grouped broadly under the name ‘demons’.

Demons range from classical, biblical demons (and…angels, for some reason), to creatures of myth and folklore from around the world, to heroes and even historical figures that been strongly mythologized. They are able to be summoned through highly specific rituals or, much more recently, via the app EDEN which has a matchmaking program for new summoners and automates much of the process.

The world has essentially ended twice. Once, twenty-five years ago, in a failed apocalypse in a world almost exactly like our own, reducing human populations to being grouped largely within seven remaining cities all ruled over by their respective mage orders, with only a handful of unprotected towns existing outside of this. The world then ended (again), rewriting the timeline from that 25 years, to a more peaceful coexistence with demons, with only about a dozen people remembering the previous apocalypse and it’s results.

The center of the first apocalypse was the appearance of the Qllipoth Trees, gigantic crystalline trees that tower over the world and dig deep into the world, distorting reality in accordance to wishes made by humanity around them. Every five years, the Trees would grand the wish to the victors of a contest that became known as the Holy Branch Wars or, more informally, the Tree-For-All. These wars determined what wish was granted, and usually there was only a handful of survivors. Each Order put together a team in order to battle for supremacy and gain control of the wish in question.

The fifth war saw the introduction of an eighth wildcard team, overseen by Dr. Misaki Yamazaki, in order to complete the goals of the Qlipoth trees–the creation of a new world from the corpse of the old, a process that had been stalled 25 years previously. The Eighth Night (she is not very creative) would eventually succeed and trigger this new world, which was technologically much the same, but much more rich in natural magic, allowing for harmony between humans and demons. As someone who had been integral in orchestrating this and maintains a sort of contract with the Trees, Misaki remained one of the few people aware of the events of both apocalypses.

Misaki’s specific history is deeply tangled with the history of the world and it’s multiple apocalypses, marking her as a major player in the world and also as someone deeply affected by all that’s happen. It was her own father who orchestrated the events that lead to the initial death of the old world, and the tragedy that prevented the new one from being formed. In desperation, Misaki sold her own humanity and mortality to the sentient force of reality, creating the Qlipoth trees to try and buy the world a second chance. Her husband would also sell away his humanity, essentially replacing Lucifer as the great Adversary, in order to have the power necessary to save humanity and, more importantly, Misaki.

Misaki’s sacrifice gave humanity another chance, but meant she was unable to directly intervene in the wars that broke out amongst the trees. Instead, she developed the app EDEN, allowing almost anyone to summon demons and cast spells without formal training, and used the apps matchmaking to pick out several people who would become the Eighth Night. As the Fifth War dragged on and began to unravel reality, she was able to intervene only slightly more, choosing to prioritize protecting her unwieldy herd of children, both biological and adopted, with the little strength she had. Having sold her mortality, Misaki was well aware that to fail would mean living eternally in a void of non-existence, unable to move, speak, or even perceive anyone or anything else. It is possible she was aware, constantly, of the alternate timeline where such a thing did occur, and that despair haunted her until the very moment that possibility was averted.

At the very end, fighting against the machinations of Nyarlathotep (yes, that Nyarlathotep) and his pawns, Misaki was called upon to intervene for a price, and revealed the truth of her lineage–the final true heir of King Solomon. This was, pf course, a complete lie she bullshitted reality into making true, but remained true when the universe was remade, much to her chagrin.

In the new world, Dr. Yamazaki is largely a mysterious asshole who runs the largest library in the world, offering free education to those without the means for the fancier academies, and largely lives in peace with her husband and exceedingly large passel of kids. Despite having been instrumental in the formation of Sector Zero, the world’s peacekeeping organization, and brokering the initial peace treaty with demonkind, Misaki and her satanic spouse move every three to six months to avoid being bothered by anyone.

Personality:
Misaki is a very catlike person at her core, which is to say, an insufferable asshole who demands attention but only on her terms. A remarkable genius and powerful athlete from a young age, Misaki is driven to be the best at whatever she turns her hands to and, worse yet, is used to succeeding very quickly. She deliberately cultivates an impression of caring very little for the thoughts and feelings of those around her, and even for those she cares for and teaches, she is a harsh taskmaster, constantly pushing people to their limits to see as rapid improvement as possible.

Misaki is impatient, judgemental and often arrogant, used to being the smartest person in the room, but it is not to say she has no redeeming qualities. She is deeply and fiercely protective of the people who worm through her armor, and endlessly enthusiastic about the successes of her loved ones. For the people she considers family, there is very little she won’t do for them if asked, and she will often quietly go out of her way to leave presents or solve problems for them, in a way that makes it obvious she’s done so while she’s elsewhere. Being emotionally vulnerable is embarrassing and she would rather swallow glass than admit when she’s done someone genuine kindness. The only exceptions to this appears to be animals and small children–while Misaki prefers cats obviously and greatly to literally any other animal, she enjoys their company and would point out there’s no point in making a performance to impress or deceive them–their standards are different. With children, she will wave it off as just disliking to see small children lonely, a remnant of her own father’s abandonment. In truth, given her own startling number of offspring, it’s possible she just really likes kids.

As someone who loves the potential of humanity but has largely been soured on individuals, Misaki loves history and science, and scrambles to learn anything she can about those topics. A deeply inquisitive individual, she also eats gossip up with a spoon, to the point of doing things like laying magical eavesdropping devices or skittering around in the vents of a hotel she owns to listen in on people. She’s reluctant to speak directly on anything she knows, but if you can somehow corner her on a topic, she can be a lively and excitable conversation partner, and while it deeply hurts her pride to find out she doesn’t know something, she will then throw herself completely into learning about that topic.

Abilities & Inventory: Oh boy here we fucking go.

Inventory: Misaki will arrive in Escordvi with the clothes on her back and the following notable items:
--Crystalline Earrings: Large, crystal drop earrings, imbued with magic. They have no special properties on their own, but represent her contracts.
--Enchanted Glasses: They're reading glasses enchanted to not fog up or fall off her head.
--Wedding Band: A simple gold band.

Mundane Abilities: I am starting with these because they probably don't need to be nerfed.
--MMA Athlete: Misaki is deeply athletic and is trained in several different martial arts, as well as the vaunted martial art of "getting the shit kicked out of her in street fights". She is thus excellent at hand-to-hand combat and fights extremely dirty.
--Hell's Librarian: Misaki has two PhDs (psychology and historic folklore) and an actual MD, as well as an obsessive need to discover more knowledge. She's great at trivia night. Please subscribe to Misakifacts.
--Polyglot: Unlikely to be useful in Escordvi, but Misaki speaks something like 9-10 languages fluently, and about a dozen more in bits and pieces.
--Cat Whisperer: Cats fucking love her, and she fucking loves cats. Any cat. Of all shapes and sizes. She will apply the forbidden earscritches and she will survive it.
--Angel's Blessing: An absolutely phenomenal singing voice, if you can convince her to use it, and classical musical training (piano). Good luck getting to hear it.
--Tech Wizard: Misaki is an extremely skilled programmer and computer engineer, able to meld her magic with technology fairly seemlessly. She's also a dab hand at repairing computers and modern technology, though older and more fantastical tech will prove more difficult for her. For reasons she doesn't want to discuss, she's surprisingly good at plumbing...?
--Cooking: Misaki is an EXCELLENT cook. She lived on her own for most of her life. She's good at this.

Magical Abilities: I am so sorry.

Intense Magic Bullshit: Misaki is truly the most knowledgeable and powerful witch the world has or will ever know, with mastery over all elements and a wealth of truly esoteric nonsense powers created by combining magical traditions. For the purposes of this game, we will break them down into the following with suggested nerfs.

Elemental Magic: At home, Misaki has mastery over all elements. In Escordvi, she will be limited to her most powerful--Shadow, and Ice, with Fire magic granted to her by the tattoo. Shadow Magic requires further restrictions, detailed below.

Shadow Magic: At home, Misaki can appear in any shadow, anywhere, and read the darkest desires out of human hearts in their shadows. For Escordvi, I suggest her teleportation is limited to shadows she can see, and her ability to read others is touch based and/or requires an opt-in from other players. I am fine with both being required.

Conditional Immortality: Misaki has sold away her ability to die. Functionally, what this means is Misaki cannot be killed, but can be injured, and has to find some way to heal more...extreme injuries. For example, a severed arm will heal...only she has to find a way to keep that arm attached until it reattaches to her. She is no more resilient to injuries and only heals somewhat faster from them than your average human. As far as Escordvi goes, I'd suggest total body injuries or things like immolation or decapitation (ie, injuries that would disable her completely for a matter of months instead of days) would trigger the death mechanics, even if she is, very technically, not actually Dead.

Demonic Peerage: Misaki was a demon summoner even before she became the queen of all demons, and as such 'demons' tend to recognize her strength and be quite fond of her. She has a few summons with her, though somewhat more limited in strength than normal. They are, as follows:

Grimalkin: A cat made entirely of shadows, essentially a cat-shaped cthonic being. Grimalkin can replicate like mushrooms, creating up to a dozen copies of itself, but grows smaller with each copy and they are, essentially, all the same cat. Grimalkin is primarily a spy, and can appear in shadows of anyone it's met, as well as follow their scent. Grimalkin like to steal objects with deep emotional significance or a lot of magic. This will be by opt-in only. Grimalkin appears to be an extremely fluffy black cat with an...uncomfirmed number of eyes.

Bakeneko: A demon formed by vengeful desires of mistreated cats. Bakeneko has fire magic and a thirst for arson. Able to create small fires and has a cursed bite--in Escordvi, this bite is not deadly, but it is unpleasant and Opt-In only. Bakeneko is an orange tortiseshell cat with three tails and an unsettling stare.

Gnosis: Misaki has learned the language of creation. At home, the Gnosis is the coding that powers the very fabric of reality, and Misaki found out how to unlock console commands. Gnosis comes in several parts, as followed.

Item Creation: Misaki has unlocked creative mode and can move items around, change their size, create them out of thin air, and essentially play the Sims with reality. In Escordvi, she cannot do this with anything larger than herself (perhaps not anything larger than the average cat), and she cannot create anything of high monetary value. She cannot modify items that already exist or she did not make.

Skill Gain: Misaki can peak into the library of existence and just give herself new skills and magic she sees on others. Obviously, she cannot just hijack other people's skills here. Turtle said no, Misaki.

Reality Weaver: Misaki can literally change the laws of physics to suit her own whims. Obviously, she can't do this here, aside from some small things, such as being able to walk on water or walk up walls, and walk through the air for very limited distances, and it tires her the hell out to do any of it.

Enochian: Power Word Yeet, except only on supernatural beings, banishing them from this plane of existence. Here, more like Power Word Ouch, and it severely burns Misaki's throat to speak this language too. Unpleasant to anything magical in natured that hears it, but not fatal.

Shapechanging: Misaki can turn herself into a nekomata (a cat demon with the form of a human, just with ears and tails) or just straight up a cat. As a nekomata, she has superhuman strength, speed and catlike reflexes, as well as enhanced senses. Also, she's adorable.

Contract Binding: Misaki is married to Satan, and shares some of the duties of making deals. If you do Misaki a favor in good faith, she is bound to repay it--and if she does you a favor, she'll come to collect. Misaki will create magical trinkets to those who have entered into those contracts, and they do nothing but allow Misaki to find who owes her--or let those she owes call her to collect renumeration. Misaki does not need someone to be aware they've entered a contract, but oocly, this requires everyone involved to Opt-In.

ARMADA SELECTION

Misaki is the SMT Chaos route personified, believing in freedom of choice over all other concerns, and not really having the morality god graced a turnip with, so naturally she's best suited to the Corsairs. Let's do some crimes.
