Re: Shadow Reading (CW: Suicide mention)

May Misaki read into the shadowy desires of your character? Go ahead!

Briefly describe their darkest wishes, most repressed desires, or just their intrusive thoughts that she'd pick up on.

-He's someone who prides himself on his masculinity. So a literal gender-bender curse that forces him to turn into a girl messes with him a lot. He's grown to tolerate it by now, but he still wants it gone no matter what and be himself wholly for good.

-There's also his severe ailurophobia due to an incident from his childhood where his father threw him into a pit of cats while covered in meat with the express purpose of traumatizing his son to cats so he'd suffer a mental break and regress psychologically to a cat. He's bitter to his father (amongst other reasons) for doing this to him, but there's a bit of self-hatred to himself for not being strong enough to just get over it already.

-He's not very good with being... Emotional isn't the right word, but more or less vulnerable. He hates being seen as weak and pitiful, and has been told what a man is and isn't allowed to do.

-Ranma's a very private person and not so immediate to trust others, both due to how he was raised and because he's been taken advantage of or manipulated by a lot of people taking advantage of his gullibility or good nature. At the same time, he's been blamed for nearly everything under the sun or have people quick to jump and judge him for misunderstandings or things that aren't his fault, no matter how many times he's tried to explain or prove otherwise.

-Ranma's only recently met his mother, and he's immediately attached to her and wants to make her proud no matter what. There's a slight issue with the fact that when Ranma was a toddler, his mother made him and his father sign a seppuku pledge stating that if either of them fail to uphold their end, all three of them would be forced to commit seppuku to regain honor. It only further made Ranma double down on proving his masculinity, outside of not wanting to die, to see his mother again. Because of this, he's also harboring some deep insecurities deep down that he could be responsible for his entire family's death if he doesn't live up to her mother's expectations.

-As a martial artist and cause of his heart, Ranma actively goes out of his way to help any and everyone in need, even if the person in need of help had tried killing him several times. He's got a habit of putting himself in the way of helping people who'd either turn around and act like he's done nothing for them or immediately try to backstab him the moment they get. That, and even when he's not directly responsible for things, he still feels an obligation to help others or make things up for others, like when Nabiki sold him out for dates to several students, which Ranma did follow through since he felt responsible since they spent money on him.

-Minor, but he's got some backwards or insane logic when it comes to masculinity thanks to his upbringing. For example: Eating sugary sweets is unmanly, meaning if he wants to eat ice cream, he'd use his curse to spare himself an embarrassment that'd never come.

Are you alright with Misaki referencing what she picks up from this? Sure, though Ranma'll really not be very happy hearing things he wanted secret coming from someone's mouth.
